Mexican Tradition

Located in Mexico City, we carry beautifull mexican scarves locally called Rebozos, a piece of hand woven fabric made one by one with love and patience, following decades of tradition since prehispanic times, and handed down from mother to daughter and doula to doula, to cover from cold, help doulas in natural birth, and to carry babies.

They are waved using the ancient pedal loom technique:

Our mexican rebozo scarves are hand made in different regions of Mexico, with 100% non-stretching cotton yarn

Some contains artisela thread (artificial silk) motives, and some contain colored acrilic yarn, making gorgeous pattern on the woven, and achieving different styles and lengths.

A mexican rebozo scarf consist of two parts: the main one is the woven part made in the loom, and traditionally made by men, and the fringe, knotted by hand, by women.

The process to have a finished piece can take a couple of days or weeks, depending on the pattern. It may start since the thread is dyed, then woven and finally the fringe knotting.
